Post Surgery
Uhm... Ow. Seven times done, and I'm still not used to the pain. I just got my toe worked on AGAIN and they probably screwed it up, AGAIN. Anyways, thought it would either gross you out or keep these forums alive to show you what a lack of dignity looks like. BTW, notice the painfully funny wrap job.

Hit the nail on the head (no pun intended). They ALWAYS seem to come back, even with they use the acid on the root to prevent it from re-growing.

Yeah. I've had three of those. After the second one I decided no more painkillers. It was fun. Doesn't hurt too bad actually. I think mine came back but I've just started to hack at it myself, rather than pay someone to do it.
Yay for me.

From the forum thread list I was slightly skeered of what Echo was posting. So although I know that ingrowns hurt(mine hasn't come back after removal 7 years ago *knocks on wood), I am not glad you are in pain and wish ya the best, but I'm glad it wasn't truly gross pics.

Looks like it hurts Echo...
I've had a few ingrowns myself... They don't hurt because my feet are numb on the spot.
I'm going to sleep

answered my own question(google)
Iv had quiet a few of these actually. I feel your pain. I dont know I might have a high threshhold for pain, but when the nail gets in my skin to the point that it hurts i rip it out with my hand. Hope your foot gets better.

Sure. Hope it aint too graphic: An ingrown is when the nail doesn't grow to the guide of the nail bed. This either happens naturally or by a damaging blow or cut to the nail. The nail will dig into the skin surrounding the nail and is EXTREMELY painfull. The way an ingrown is normally taken care of is by clipping the nail in half, removing the half that's causing the pain, and applying acid to the root so it doesn't grow back. Problem is, nails are fighters, and will often grow back, even with the acid. That's why I've had this done 7 times. I get them naturally, but a crushed (and cheap) steel toe that damaged my left foot is also responsable >.>;

yes they do get painful, very very painful I think for me though that the acid would be more panful than just ripping it out when need be. I crushed my toe, a while back and that is what causes my ingrown toe. Never went to the doctor for it, so that would be why didnt know the term.
BTW my grammar really scks tonight.
